E-TEAM WRT UNVEILS ITS 24 HOURS OF LE MANS VIRTUAL LIVERY

04/06/2020

E-Team WRT will compete against 49 other cars at the biggest esports endurance race ever seen. The virtual ORECA 07 LMP2 No. 30 car will be driven by Dries Vanthoor, Kelvin van der Linde, Fabrice Cornelis and Arne Scoonvliet.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual, organised by the ACO, FIA WEC and Motorsport Games, will open a new era in sim racing. For the first time, teams made up of a combination of professional racing drivers and esports champions will challenge each other on the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit.

Dries Vanthoor:
“I am very much looking forward to the race. We already had a small practice race which we did very well. We have a strong team and the commitment will be 100%. Certainly, we still have to do some development and practicing but everything is looking good and my teammates are very quick. The race will not be easy at all, so we have to try to get the best out of it. I am hoping things will go well for us all the way through to the end. Let’s practice a bit more and let’s see where we can end up.”

Kelvin van der Linde: “I really look forward to the 24h of Le Mans Virtual with E-Team WRT. It’s probably going to be one of the biggest Sim racing events ever. So many amazing line-ups. And after winning the preparation race, I think the whole team is motivated and ready for the Big One. Obviously, we all would like to be back on the real track racing but giving the situation now it’s a good opportunity. For sure it will be a lot of fun with all the engineers and the drivers. I am really excited!”

Arne Schoonvliet: “Thanks to Team WRT for having me in this project. Never I had imagine to be part of such an event. Although we speak about a virtual race it will be a privileged to share the track with such world famous drivers! I have the advantage of knowing rFactor2 and shall try to share my experience with the team. It’s incredible though how in a very short period of time we managed to develop an impressive team spirit with a very high motivation. Thanks to this I am sure yet we will enjoy the event a lot. Any good result would then be the ice on the cake!”

Fabrice Cornelis: “First of all, for me as a Belgian guy, it is a huge honour to defend the colours of E-Team WRT. Driving for a Belgium team makes me feel proud, especially with such a drivers as Dries and Kelvin who have a lot of experience in a real racing. A big thanks to the engineers, because in the last couple of days a lot of work has been done and I learnt a lot. We have a high expectations for the upcoming race and we want to achieve the best result possible. Winning the 24h of Le Mans Virtual would be a goal, but 24 hours are long where so many things can happen. After winning the official 24 hours of Le Mans in an LMP1 car in iRacing 2 years ago, I look forward to repeat this success on rFactor 2 this year with the Oreca 07 LMP2. I really do believe we have the right team for it, so let's bring it on!”
