ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN

In the role of Electrical Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and electronic systems on high-performance GTP race cars. You will work closely with engineers, mechanics, and data specialists to ensure optimal vehicle performance and reliability on and off the track.

The responsabilities of the Electrical Technician will include:

  • Install, inspect, and maintain wiring harnesses, sensors, electrical hardware, displays, and data acquisition systems.
  • Install, inspect, and maintain high voltage battery systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults during testing, races, and garage prep.
  • Assist in the integration and installation of hybrid powertrain and energy recovery systems (where applicable).
  • Calibrate and validate sensor data (e.g. pressure, temperature, suspension travel, steering angle, etc).
  • Manage CAN bus systems and data logging tools (Bosch, Magnetti Marelli, etc).
  • Conduct pre-event electrical system checks and post-event debriefs, including downloading and organising data.
  • Work closely with engineering to implement electrical changes and upgrades.
  • Maintain documentation, wiring diagrams, and fault logs for continuous improvement.
  • Comply with all safety standards and racing regulations (FIA, IMSA, etc).
  • Assist with the setup and teardown of the electrical infrastructure at race events and tests.

The Electrical Technician should have the following desired skillset:

  • Proven experience as an electrical technician in motorsport or high-performance automotive environments.
  • Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with hybrid or electric powertrains is a strong plus specifically high voltage systems.
  • Ability to produce and maintain high level motorsport grade wiring harnesses and assemblies specifically dealing with fine gage wiring, Autosport connectors, Raychem sleeving, etc.
  • Strong understanding of 12V and 24V DC systems, CAN protocols, and motorsport wiring standards.
  • Familiarity with race car data systems (e.g., Cosworth, Bosch, MoTeC, Magneti Marelli).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and harness drawings.
  • Excellent soldering, crimping, and assembly skills specifically with motorsport level products.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities under pressure.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress team environment with tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel to races and test events, including weekends and extended hours.
  • Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with hybrid or electric powertrains is a strong plus specifically high voltage systems.
  • Motorsport-specific training or certification (e.g., MIA, IMI).
  • High voltage safety training.
